About the work

Extension is a riveting piece by the renowned artist, Benedikt Hipp, a scholar of arts from Munich, Berlin and Bologna. Drawing on his wealth of education and exposure within the European art scene, Hipp creates a mesmerizing grid structure, an emblematic feature of his layered and contemplative art form. The use of the oyster shell emphasizes the recurring theme of hidden beauty and unseen depths in Hipp's work, inviting viewers into a deeper reflection on art and life. The intense gaze subtly hidden within the piece can be regarded as Hipp's introspective analysis of his own creative process and a dialogue with the viewers about their interpretations. This ties back to the artist's creative philosophy of layered complexity, where nothing is immediately visible but requires an intimate interaction. As a German artist, residing in Munich and Rome, his work is imbued with influences of his European surroundings - encapsulating its rich heritage, diverse artistry, and cultural nuances. Winning prestigious awards like the Roman Award Fellowship at the German Academy Villa Massimo further underlines Hipp's contribution to the art landscape, echoing throughout Extension.Much like Hipp's acclaimed presence in international platforms like Wilhelm-Hack-Museum Ludwigshafen, Kunstverein Bielefeld, and Musée d'Art Contemporain Bordeaux, Extension embodies his exploration into the world of unseen depths, and the manifest beauty that lies within. Through Artue, we invite you to delve into this exceptional work and navigate Benedikt Hipp's enthralling artistry.
