About the work

Eun-Ha Paek captures the narrative potential hidden within familiar objects and everyday scenes, drawing out moments where humor and emotion quietly intersect. Her work often centers around a kind of stillness—what happens before anything actually happens—where a setup alone can hint at laughter or provoke reflection. In this suspended space between the familiar and the strange, Paek explores grief and hope with wit and a gentle sense of play. Born in Seoul, Paek received her BFA in Film/Animation/Video from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her animations have been shown at the Guggenheim Museum, Sundance Film Festival, and other venues worldwide, and her work has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, and Vogue Living. She has been awarded grants and fellowships from the Center for Craft, the Archie Bray Foundation, and the Jerome Foundation, among others. Residencies at EKWC, the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park, the Center for Contemporary Ceramics, and the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts have further expanded her exploration of material and form. She is currently based in New York, where she teaches at Parsons School of Design and Greenwich House Pottery.
