Lee Seokyung (b.1995) visually unravels the refreshing moments of daily life through her paintings. She uses broad strokes of color and employs a technique called "erasure drawing," in which she leaves behind only the form of sensation before the paint dries. The brushstrokes across the canvas form continuous marks that break away from traditional conventions of intense, sustained focus, instead showcasing lively, spontaneous gestures. The works in this exhibition are part of the Island Series, which began with the bubbles Lee encountered in her everyday life, sparking her exploration of fleeting, delicate forms. The artist Lee Seokyoung, who expresses the ventilation of everyday life through her painting work, transforms the complex state of daily life into expansive colors and uses the technique of "erasing to draw" on the wet surface of the paint, leaving only visual language and sensory experience.
