SiHo Park’s work begins from a thirst for an unattainable world. Projecting his sense of self onto the magical girl character “Yumemidori (夢ミドリ),” whom he created himself, the artist unfolds, through the language of subculture, a fantastical dimension to which he longed to fully belong. The “glitch” that violently fragments these images functions as an irreconcilable barrier between reality and the ideal. The moment one reaches toward that ideal, the digital errors that deteriorate and collapse reveal that the perfect world we pursue is ultimately an illusion that can never truly be reached. The green hue that permeates the surface originates from the phenomenon in which deteriorating digital images gradually shift toward green. It functions as a device that evokes the sense of a world moving along a completely separate trajectory from reality.
