INSPIRATION It's early 2025, just a few weeks into the new year. What would be the best plan for this year? With domestic political and security uncertainties, slowing cash flow in both exports and domestic markets, rising U.S. interest rates, and Trump’s election victory signaling a shift toward protectionist economic policies—such as tax cuts and deregulation for certain industries—the U.S. dollar has strengthened significantly. Maybe that’s why at least three group chats I'm in are constantly buzzing with talk about U.S. stocks and the dollar. So, I decided to create this. Here it is—your ultimate plan for 2025. A kit packed with the essence of American capitalism. The economic outlook for 2025 seems even bleaker, but survival is the answer in times like these. This kit, in a way, represents one of the best survival strategies. After all, people fear uncertainty the most and seek security in their choices. That’s the sentiment behind this piece. DESIGN CONCEPT To align with the theme of a “kit,” I structured the layout to resemble one. Since this is an American-style kit, I incorporated as many USPS (United States Postal Service) packaging elements as possible—things like mailing tapes and shipping envelopes—to reinforce the concept. MATERIALS USED The attached dollar bills are all real, and if you look closely, you'll notice that each one has a different serial number. I chose to use $1 bills because the U.S. dollar serves as the global exchange rate benchmark. The coins attached to the right are also real U.S. currency. And, to match the New Year theme, I included a gold-colored lucky money envelope.

Sunhotan is an artist who bases his work on the technique of ‘collage.’ He utilizes various forms of standardized ready-made products produced in modern capitalist society, focusing on how these mass-produced items acquire individual narratives through personal consumption, ultimately forming unique meanings in the process. Furthermore, he interprets the most fundamental human desire as the "desire for existence" and considers "consumption" to be the most rational means of expressing this desire within modern capitalist society. Based on this idea, he explores consumption from an aesthetic-philosophical perspective and reinterprets its meaning through his artwork. Building on these concepts, he continues to complete his works by transforming and reconstructing ready-made and mass-produced objects, utilizing the technique of collage.
