An extremely enlarged and cropped image of a gas stove is divided across two aluminum panels, stripped of its source and function. As in ‘Train,’ the alignment of panel and image never fully coincides, regardless of the standard applied. By functionally inserting a familiar and indifferent image into the surface, and sustaining this formal misalignment, the work makes visible the ways images are consumed and ultimately dissipate.
